About
Daniel is a freelance, multi-award-winning, international opera and theatre director. Over a career spanning more than two decades, he has directed over 80 productions for more than 40 companies in 20 countries on 4 continents. He has collaborated with many of the world’s best creative partners to stage productions that communicate through bold, modern design, clear, exciting story-telling and original, detailed characterisation.
As a writer, his work includes translations of Don Giovanni and Macbeth and dialogues for many other operas, as well as two plays.
Born in London, he was educated at the United World College of the Atlantic in Wales. He took a 1st-class honours degree in English at Bristol University and received a PhD from Cambridge University for my thesis on the influence of Nietzsche on D.H. Lawrence. He is a fluent speaker of French, German, Italian, Spanish and Swedish.
